Welcome

This is a collaborative website for teachers to post and find resources for teaching the 2010 Winter Olympics from a critical perspective. If you have a lesson plan idea, upcoming events listings or links to articles or organizations please send us an email at contact@teach2010.org.

This website is also being developed in collaboration with the Teaching 2010 Resistance project, which has developed a critically-minded Olympics workshop for students.  This workshop is being presented in schools throughout Greater Vancouver beginning in October 2009.  For more information, please check out this page.  An overview of the workshop and the full workshop manual are available here.
Please note:

Teaching 2010 Resistance is an independent project developed by a network of youth workers, teaching professionals, and community members.  The project has the support of numerous individuals, as well as of the diverse Olympics Resistance NetworkTeaching 2010 Resistance has not been officially endorsed by any educational body or teachers' union, nor are we seeking any such endorsement.

The 2010 Olympics will have a large impact on people and the environment. There is resistance to the 2010 Olympics because they will cause:
- increased homelessness
- development and exploitation of Indigenous lands
- privatization of the public sector
- an increased security presence in communities

For more information on these issues go to the links page for a listing of organizations concerned about the 2010 Olympics.
